The Department of Fine Arts and Communication at Texas State University-San Marcos presents Eddie Frierson’s acclaimed one-man show Matty: An Evening with Christy Mathewson at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19 in the LBJ Student Center Teaching Theatre on campus.
The show is part of the fine arts and communication Encore Series’ new Solo Artist Series.
Using baseball as a backdrop, Mathewson draws his experiences in the Big Leagues as a metaphor for life. He raises many questions--some are answered, some aren’t, but according to Mathewson, "That's the way life is. You can sum it up with the title of the Cohan song, Life’s A Very Funny Proposition After All."
The play isn't a conventional one. Rather, it’s the memoir of a great American life, as it was experienced, by the man who experienced it.
Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for students with a Texas State ID. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.encoreseries.txstate.edu. For more information, call (512) 245-3501.
