The Department of Fine Arts and Communication at Texas State University-San Marcos presents Michelle Ellsworth’s acclaimed one-woman show The Monkey Saddle and Other Religious Artifacts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 in the LBJ Student Center Teaching Theatre on campus.

The show, co-sponsored by SACA, is the debut of the fine arts and communication Encore Series’ new Solo Artist Series.

Ellsworth, a faculty member at the University of Colorado, employs hymns, religious dances, sacrifice and community service in The Monkey Saddle to address many of the unsung problems undermining the religious world today. The New York Times describes Ellsworth’s act as “Smart, cute, and profoundly irritating.”

Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for students with a Texas State ID. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.encoreseries.txstate.edu. For more information, call (512) 245-3501.
