The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University-San Marcos presents the legendary, award-winning Broadway musical A Chorus Line Nov. 13-18.

Guest directed by Robert Ball of the University of the Incarnate Word Theatre Arts Department, performances will be Nov. 13-18 at 7:30 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinee performances Nov. 17 and 18 on the main stage of the Theatre Center on campus.

Ball has acted on professional theatre stages in New York, Chicago, and on national and international tours.  He is also the co-author of The Essential Theatre and the co-editor of Plays for the Theatre with his long-time friend and mentor, Oscar G. Brockett.

A Chorus Line follows 17 dancers as they reveal their dreams and disappointments while vying for eight spots in a Broadway show.  One by one, the dancers disclose personal stories ranging from humorous to heartbreaking.  A Chorus Line, which was inspired by real life stories of Broadway dancers, made its Broadway debut in July 1975.  The musical ran for 15 years and won numerous awards including the Pulitzer Prize for drama and nine Tony Awards.  As a testament to the show’s enduring popularity, A Chorus Line was revived on Broadway in 2006.

Admission is $10 for the general public and $7 for students with a Texas State ID. Tickets can be purchased at the University Box Office in the Theatre Center, located at the corner of Moon Street and University Drive and available by phone at (512) 245-2204.
