The Center for Texas Music History (CTMH) presents the 7th Annual Texas Music History Unplugged concert at 7:30 p.m. April 24 in the LBJ Student Center ballroom on the Texas State University campus.
This year’s lineup features Marcia Ball, Ruben Ramos, Barbara Lynn, Randy Rogers and Colin Brooks. Admission is free, but seating is limited.
Texas Music History Unplugged is an ongoing lecture series sponsored by the CTMH, the Department of History, and several other campus organizations. Prominent Texas musicians share the stage in an intimate semi-circle. They perform together and discuss how Texas music reflects the rich history and tremendous cultural diversity of the American Southwest. This series combines education and entertainment so that students, faculty, staff and the general public can better understand and appreciate the ethnic and cultural complexity of our society. Questions from students are incorporated into the show, ensuring that a wide range of topics are covered.
Since the very first UnPlugged in 2000, the concerts have grown in popularity and have become one of the cornerstones of the many different projects of the Center for Texas Music History. Past performers have included Radney Foster, Ray Benson, Flaco Jimenez, Terri Hendrix, , Joe Ely, Ruthie Foster, John Arthur Martinez, Chris Wall and the Sisters Morales.
