Gaillardia Gallery hosts 'Texas State in Florence' exhibit
A little bit of Italy comes to campus this month, as a new exhibit, "Texas State in Florence," opens in the Gaillardia Gallery Oct. 5 and runs through Nov. 4 at Texas State University-San Marcos.
The exhibition reflects the activities and impressions of Texas State students and faculty who studied in Florence, Italy, through May and June of this year. The images were created during assigned work and free time as the participants absorbed the Italian environment.
Study abroad classes in art history, drawing and photography are offered every summer to Texas State students. During the month of study, excursions are taken to Pisa, Siena, Venice and Rome. The experience of living and creating art in Italy not only influences the studentsí creative approaches but also transformes their lives.
The Gaillardia Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the LBJ Student Center, across from the Information Desk. It is between the University Bookstore and the set of doors leading into the Atrium. Parking for the Gaillardia Gallery is available at the LBJ Student Center Parking Garage, which is located adjacent to the 3rd floor entrance of the student center. Parking rates are as follows: $2 for the first hour, $1 for every hour after that. The maximum total is $7 per day.
