SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Nicole M. McGill of Dallas has been named the recipient of the 2000 Sallie Beretta Outstanding Senior Woman Award at Southwest Texas State University.
McGill will receive a bachelor of arts degree with a major in psychology and a minor in criminal justice at SWT commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. on May 13.
McGill is a member of the national psychology honors society Psi Chi, the SWT Psychology Association, the honor society Alpha Chi and the SWT chapter of the NAACP. She also served as student chair for the MLK planning committee. She is a Dean’s List student and was named outstanding senior in psychology. She plans to continue her education this fall at the University of Houston, Clear Lake in hopes of receiving a master’s degree in psychology and business administration.
The Beretta Award is named for Sallie Beretta, who served on the University’s Board of Regents from 1933 to 1951. The award has been given by the university since 1963 to an outstanding senior woman based on leadership, scholarship, character, potential and loyalty.
