Texas State physics chairman dies in crash


James R. Crawford had been with the university more than 30 years

SAN MARCOS—When James R. Crawford wasn't working with light in the laboratory, he and his wife were watching it work its magic in nature.

Crawford, a New Braunfels resident who chaired Texas State University-San Marcos' Department of Physics for more than two decades, died Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash. He was 63.
