Standards for Teacher Evaluation
(Comment option available at the bottom of the page.)

Successful supervision:

8.1  Employs differentiated procedures for teacher evaluation. These procedures are appropriate to respective levels of teachers’ professional development

8.2  Requires teachers and administrators to work as collaborative partners to identify teachers’ professional development goals, to appropriately assess those goals, to analyze data collected as evidence of effort toward and accomplishment of the goals, and to interpret the implications of such evidence for the improvement of teaching and learning

8.3  Evaluates teachers using data derived from multiple sources and points in time. Ideally, data are also provided by multiple evaluators

8.4  Recognizes that evaluation of teaching is both formative and summative; however, the majority of evaluation resources are used for formative evaluation processes

8.5  Ties evaluation of teaching both to individual teachers’ professional development goals and to school and/or program improvement goals

8.6  Ensures that evaluation policies as well as the goals and outcomes that are the basis for evaluation of teaching are well-defined, plainly articulated, and clearly communicated. Administrators and teachers are well-informed about these policies and goals.
