Successful supervision:

2.1  Establishes good working relationships with teachers and support staff based on respect for, and trust in, their professional and moral competence and based on genuine caring for them in their intrinsic goodness

2.2  Encourages teachers to establish good working relationships with each student, based on understanding of the students’ cultural and immediate social environment, on respect for the students’ present talents and interests, and their huge potential

2.3  Identifies and articulates personal and civic values and meanings in the curriculum being taught by teachers with whom supervisors work

2.4  Encourages teachers as they plan their curriculum to articulate the personal and civic value of the material under study

2.5  Encourages teachers to translate various units of the curriculum they are teaching into personally and publicly meaningful learnings that foster students’ sense of identity, membership, and participation in the natural, cultural, and social worlds

2.6  Encourages teachers and learners to develop a sense of responsible participation in the world reflected in the material under study in the classroom

2.7  Encourages teachers to develop with learners rubrics for personally authentic learning
