Standards for Supervision of Curriculum Development

Successful supervision:

10.1    Assists in the identification of individual and collective platforms of beliefs about the aims of education, the nature of knowledge, the role of the teacher, and purposes of the curriculum

10.2    Involves close collaboration with stakeholders in the processes of curriculum development, including setting goals, developing objectives, characterizing instruction, creating unit plans, specifying materials, and devising program assessments

10.3    Renders curriculum policy and processes accessible and transparent to all stakeholders, including parent and community groups

10.4    Fosters continuous deliberation on curriculum issues and problems by connecting theory, research and practice

10.5    Insures that curriculum planning leads to successful curriculum implementation by being knowledgeable of school improvement and change process

10.6    Insures equitable access to knowledge for all students regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, special needs, or social class
