Nina Vaca-Humrichouse Scholarship Fund

NINA VACA-HUMRICHOUSE is a graduate of Texas State University with a B.A. in Speech Communications and Business Administration where she was honored as a Distinguished Alumna in 2005. Dr. Vaca-Humrichouse also holds a Doctor of Laws “Honoris Causa” from Northwood University. She founded Pinnacle Technical Resources in 1996 as an information technology services provider to the Fortune 500. As the first two-time winner of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year Award, Dr. Vaca- Humrichouse appeared in Fast Company Magazine as one the Top 25 Women Business Builders in the country. She was also selected as one of the 50 Most Important Hispanics in Business and Technology by Hispanic Engineering & Technology Magazine, and is a two-time winner of Hispanic Business Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for InfoBusiness. She received the Ernst & Young 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Technology and Communications for the Southwest Region.

Scholarship Criteria

The Nina Vaca-Humrichouse Scholarship Fund provides an annual scholarship of $500 payable to any student who meets the following criteria:

  • Must be a full-time student enrolled at Texas State University–San Marcos taking a minimum of 12 hours per semester.
  • Must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5.
  • Students specializing in multicultural studies with an emphasis on Latino/a recruitment and retention.
  • Preference for minority students.

Deadline: Applications are due by November 15, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. for Spring semester awards.Selection of recipient(s) shall be the responsibility of the Texas State University-San Marcos Scholarship Committee of the Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies.
