 San Marcos, TX - May 16, 2011

Ignacio Ramirez, an alumnus of the Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp program from 2009 and 2010, was recently named a state finalist in the Siemens We Can Change The World Challenge.  His team developed a hydro-solar-powered generator and was recognized as the top entry in the state of Texas.  This is the first year that the competition was open to high school students, and Ramirez took the opportunity to demonstrate his creativity and mathematics and engineering skills.

Judging of the competition continues, as the state finalist teams compete for $50,000 in college scholarships and much-deserved recognition.
