Mathworks Receives Grant from Silicon labs Corporate Giving

Mathworks is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $10,000 by the Austin Community Foundation. The funds will be used to support the “Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp (HSMC) Silicon Labs Research Initiative.” This is the 7th time that Silicon Labs has awarded a grant to support the Mathworks HSMC.

The HSMC is a 6-week multi-year residential program for talented high school students. This year’s camp is from June 17 to July 28 on the campus of Texas State University. Last year, 68 students from 18 states attended the program. Advanced students work on original research projects mentored by Texas State faculty. The HSMC has a strong record of producing award-winning research projects. In 2009, a team of 3 students won first place at the national level of the Siemens Competition sharing a $100,000 college scholarship. From 2001- 2017, students’ team entries have achieved the following results in the Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology: 192 students named as semifinalists, 72 regional finalists, and 14 national finalists.
