Scholarships

The Center for International Studies offers four scholarships to eligible undergraduate and graduate majors in international studies – (1) the Barbara and Darrell Piersol and Margaret and Dennis Dunn Scholarship, (2) the Dennis and Margaret Dunn Scholarship, (3) the Ronald and Colette Johnson Foreign Affairs Scholarship, and (4) the Crown Scholarship. The amount of the scholarships vary, but will normally be in the range of $200 to $1000 per year. Scholarships are awarded in the Spring semester for the following academic year.

Students who are eligible to apply must be incoming freshmen, transfers, or graduate students who have been accepted for admission to Texas State University–San Marcos or current freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students. Incoming freshmen must have a minimum ACT composite score of 27 or an SAT score of 1150, or be in the top 10% of his/her graduating class. Incoming graduate students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA (3.2 for Crown Scholarship) on all previous undergraduate work. Transfer students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA (3.2 for Crown Scholarship). Current Texas State freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Deadlines for submission of application forms and all required materials is December 1st for the Piersol/Dunn Scholarship, February 1st for the Dennis and Margaret Dunn Scholarship and the Ronald and Colette Johnson Foreign Affairs Scholarship, and March 1st for the Crown Scholarship.
