The delegation of ten Texas State students and Dr. Elizabeth Bishop from the department of History returned from the Southeast University Model Arab League event with an honors recognition. The competition was organized by the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations in Spartanburg, SC from 11-13 March 2011. During this competition the students debated in eight councils including the Arab Court of Justice, Arab Cultural Summit, Economic Affairs, and the Palestinian Affairs among others.
International Studies majors, Maria Cortez and Nickolas Spencer were recognized with an "honorable mention" for their representation on Yemen. Nora Cavazos (IS), Hakim Husein (IS), Alana Torres, Alexandra Hamilton (IR), Andrew Nelson (IS), Caylie Hoffmans, Jenny Hart (IS), and Samuel Hillhouse enjoyed seeing their own amendments and resolutions at the Summit Conference.
