Effective fall 2012, undergraduate students majoring in International Studies must demonstrate completion of a global academic experience. The requirement can be met by registering for a study abroad course or IS 4387 if the internship entails international work, service, or group research. The Center's director and academic advisor will work closely with IS majors to find the best options for faculty-led or independent international study.
The aim of this requirement is to benefit students by providing them with practical experience and international exposure. “This exciting new development will enable IS students to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the world’s rich cultures and prepare them for leadership in our interdependent world,” Dr. Dennis Dunn, Director of the Center for International Studies.
