Testimonials

“The International Studies Program at Texas State provides an interdisciplinary, integrative approach to instilling in students a curiosity and an appreciation for the global community. A greatly varied staff really helps to create a holistic learning experience for students. I am glad to have been presented a multitude of new viewpoints over my past two years here, and its because of this that I've not only been able to expand my knowledge of international relations, but I've also learned to open my mind to new and different ideas.
In the summer of 2010 I completed an internship in Cologne, Germany with Partnership International (formerly Fulbright Society-Cologne), a non-profit high school study abroad organization. I was able to receive 6 hours (2 class' worth) of credit for my work! Students really do have so many opportunities through the International Studies Program.”

"The International Studies Program at Texas State is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the world and achieve a deeper understanding of international relations. The program provides a variety of study abroad opportunities, and as a graduate student I was awarded the once-in-a-lifetime chance to teach English as a foreign language in Honduras through the Cleaves Fellowship program. The International Studies program has given me the knowledge and skills to pursue work in the international field with a competitive edge over my peers. The program’s interdisciplinary approach allows a limitless combination of coursework, where students have the freedom to focus on their areas of interest through multiple departments. The staff and faculty are helpful and insightful, and they have always been there for me."

                                                                          -Nate Sams, Graduate student

“Majoring in International Studies at Texas State allowed me to gain a better understanding about the dynamics of today’s world and about the interdependence of different cultures and the consequent need to cooperate in order to prosper and live in peace. Studying and living in the Netherlands taught me more than what I could have learned by reading about culture and politics in books. This experience made me develop a more mature and objective viewpoint, but, most importantly, it made me realize International Studies is the major I feel most passionate about.”

                                                                                -Beatriz Gomez, Graduate student

“The International Studies program at Texas State goes beyond the borders of the classroom to provide real life experiences around the world. It has taken me from the rainforest of Costa Rica, to las casas de Gaudi en Barcelona, into the seats of Parliament in London and to the top of the Tour de Eiffel in Paris. The IS program has given me first hand experience of living and interacting in the different cultures of the world. This program has exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it. I am honored to hold my Bachelors of Arts degree in International Studies and look forward to the completion of my Masters of Arts degree in International Studies.”
