The Need for International Leadership

The need for leaders who are familiar with international issues and divergent cultures is more acute now than ever before. We live in an interdependent world, and without knowledge of one another’s cultural experience, communication and understanding cannot take place. The Center for International Studies is devoted to expanding knowledge and understanding about people and culture. Its goal is to help solve the problems that the world is facing by increasing awareness and empathy of the deep and rich cultures of the world among leaders who make decisions and make a difference in the lives of everyday people. Dress, mode of transportation, economic activity, and smiling faces speak volumes about a culture, a standard of living, and, yes, happiness. Study can open up minds about alternative ways of approaching common problems. The Center for International Studies cultivates exploring diverse and uncommon ways and manners of organizing society and solutions to society’s problems. It is a catalyst for change.
