Temporary Housing

When you arrive, it may be a few days for you to be able to move into your residence hall or to find the right apartment. A few temporary housing options are listed below.

There are many hotels located in San Marcos.  Unfortunately there are no hotels very near to the campus, however you may be able to find one located on a CARTS city bus route.

Local Hotel and Motel Rates

Hotels and Motels can be used as temporary housing while searching for a place to live.

Be sure to call hotels in advance for room rates, availability, reservations, and bus route information. Indicate that you are a Texas State Student. Costs are seasonal and subject to change.

Temporary Housing in Residence Halls On-Campus

If you are an Undergraduate student and you have a contract with Res Life to live in a Residence Halls during the school year, the Residence Halls usually allow students to move in a few days before the first day of classes.

If you arrive before the halls officially open, you may request temporary housing in one of the halls that stay open during the breaks for just $20/night.

You can see which halls offer Break Housing here: http://www.reslife.txstate.edu/Living-Options/break-housing.html and request Break Housing by emailing reslife@txstate.edu.
