Before you can make an appointment to apply for the student visa, you MUST pay the SEVIS I-901 fee.
You can pay this fee in the following ways.
1. ON-LINE Go to
www.fmjfee.com and pay the fee with a credit card. Click on the button
"Proceed to I-901 Form and Payment."
2. WESTERN UNION Pay the fee in your country through
Western Union Quick Pay.
3. MAIL Mail the form and fee directly to
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Download the
Paper Form I-901 (PDF) and follow the instructions.
4. WITH YOUR TSIE APPLICATION Indicate on your TSIE application form that you want TSIE to
complete the SEVIS form. Include the fee with your application.
IMPORTANT:On your application form, write the name of the city where you were born.
TSIE will complete the SEVIS I-901 and send you the receipt with the I-20.
• What is an I-20?
Before you can apply for a student visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate, you must first
have an I-20. You will be required to submit this form when you apply for a visa.
• How do I get an I-20?
TSIE can send a SEVIS approved I-20 to you after completion of the application process.
• What is the SEVIS I-901 fee?
The SEVIS I-901 fee supports the Student and Exchange Visitor Program in DHS.
It must be paid before you apply for the visa.
• How do I get the student visa?
You will need to arrange a visa appointment at the closest United States embassy, consulate, or
diplomatic mission.
• What do I take to the consulate to get my student visa?
Valid passport, I-20, SEVIS I-901 receipt, and proof of financial support. The consulate should tell
you if any other documents are required.
