Regular Admission

Full-time academic study with optional intensive English. [more]

Meet ONE of the following English proficiency requirements:

a) TOEFL Score(s):     • PBT: 550 or higher
    • CBT: 213 or higher
    • iBT:

- Minimum 78 total score with 3 out of 4.

- Minimum section scores* of 19/reading; 19/listening; 9/speaking; 18/writing.

* The students not having the minimum score in one or more of the sections, may need
   to be evaluated by TSIE to determine if any additional coursework in English is needed.

b) IELTS Score:

    • 6.5 or higher (academic)

c) PRE-BRIDGE or BRIDGE STUDENT:

    • Complete all TSIE 5500 classes with grade of A or B & receive TSIE’s recommendations.

    • No additional TOEFL or IELTS is required.

d) INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE:

    • An International Baccalaureate with a 4, 5, 6, or 7 in English A1 or A2 at the Higher Level

      or Standard Level or English B at the Higher Level

e) GCE, GCSE, GCSE or HKCEE:

    • A grade of C or higher in Advanced Level English.

f) 30 SEMESTER HOURS:
    • 30 or more semester hours from college course work transferred from a regionally
       accredited U.S. institution including College Writing I and II with grades of ‘C’ or better.

Bridge Program

Combination of limited academic study & intensive English for 1-2 semesters:

TOEFL:
• PBT 500-547
• CBT 173-210
• iBT 59-77 (total score with 4 out of 4 minimum section scores of 14 or above)

IELTS:
• 5.5-6.0 (academic)]

• iBT minimum 45 total score
