How to apply to TSIE

► I am currently outside the United States and need an 1-20. Complete steps 1, 2, 3, 4 *
► I don't need an I-20. Complete steps 1, 2, 3 *
► I am an in-status F1 student currently studying in the United States. Complete steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 7

1)   Complete appropriate application form.
2)   Pay $40 USD (U.S. dollars) non-refundable application fee
3)   Academic records Send copies of records - high school (secondary) education or higher
4)   Financial support   Send bank statement or sponsorship letter showing sufficient financial support.
5)   Express mail fee (optional) Country rates vary: $55 - $95. Contact us.
6)   On-campus room reservation Include $100 deposit with application.
      TSIE applicants who are below the age of 21 years are required to live on-campus.
7)   Transferring to TSIE from another school in the United States?
      Complete transfer form. Contact your school’s International Office and tell them your plans.

• What are the admission requirements?
1. A completed application
2. $40 application fee
3. Copies of academic records ( high school completion or higher).
4. For students requesting I-20, a financial support guarantee.
5. Minimum age: 18 years.

• What is a financial guarantee?
An official letter or account statement, with balance and date, from you or your sponsor.

• Can the financial statements be from more than one source?
Yes, you can use the combined balances of more than one account, sponsor, etc.

• Who can be a sponsor?
Yourself, your parents, your relatives, your employer, a friend, government or other agency, etc.

• How can I pay the application fee?
With a check, a cashiers check, a credit card, or money order. Make checks payable to Texas State.

• Do I need a TOEFL or IELTS score to apply to TSIE?
No. For TSIE admission, a TOEFL or IELTS score is not required. However, when applying to Undergraduate
Admissions or the Graduate College, an official TOEFL is required. English Proficiency Requirements

• Does admission to TSIE mean admission to a degree program at Texas State?
Admission to TSIE does not guarantee admission to a degree program.
You must apply directly to Undergraduate Admissions or the Graduate College.
