HPN Scholarship Application

Application deadline is April 6, 2018.

The Hispanic Policy Network at Texas State University has established an endowed scholarship fund to provide scholarships for students pursuing a college education.  Funds for the scholarships are raised through the university’s annual charitable giving campaign and other fundraising activities.

In 2018-2019, HPN will award four (4) scholarships. The scholarship amounts will be:

  • Up to of $1,000.00 for undergraduate students enrolled at Texas State;
  • Up to $1,200.00 for graduate students enrolled at Texas State.

Applications for the 2018-2019 academic year are due April 6, 2018.

Notification and Public Announcement/Recognition 
Recipients will be notified by April 20, 2018 and announced publicly at the HPN Spring Symposium on April 27, 2018.

Incomplete Applications:
Please complete the online form provided below and attach all required documents. Incomplete applications will not be eligible for consideration.

You must meet all of the criteria outlined on the HPN Scholarship Page. Make certain all areas are complete when submitting your application.


Important information regarding Confirmations and Letters of Recommendations

Confirmation Email:
You will automatically receive an electronic copy of the application form that you have submitted at the Texas State Email Address that you have provided. This will serve as your confirmation receipt.

If you have NOT received an Confirmation Email:
Please check your email inbox (including SPAM or JUNK folder). Automatic emails will not reach their destination if your email was misspelled. If you have any questions or have not received an electronic copy of your application, then contact the Hispanic Policy Network at HPN will reply with a copy of your application received in the HPN Inbox.

Letters of Recommendations:
If you have not attached letters of recommendation to your application form submission - ask your recommender to Copy you in their email to HPN. This will ensure that you and HPN obtain a copy of the letter. This will also provide you with assurance that your recommender has submitted their letter.

Personal Statement Essay

Submit an essay (two-page, double spaced, Time New Roman, 12-point font) that highlights your academic goals while examining your personal background and adversities you had to overcome.

Discuss your future aspirations as well as commitment to Hispanic/Latino related issues.

Please include information regarding financial need for this scholarship and how the funds will impact you.



Two letters of recommendations must be submitted:

  1. Character Recommendation Letter
    • Letter from a non-relative who is familiar with the student’s character.
  2. Academic Recommendation Letter
    • Letter from a teacher or professor familiar with academic success and commitment.
