Admissions

Eligibility requirements for the Honors College depend on a student's status (e.g. freshman, transfer student).  Please review the appropriate category for information on your eligibility for the program:

Honors students

Incoming Freshmen

Eligibility Criteria

  • Entering freshmen from the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class, or
  • Entering freshmen with a composite score of 27 on the ACT, or
  • Entering freshmen with a composite score of 1180 on the SAT (math and verbal scores combined), or
  • Entering frehsmen who have completed the AP | Cambridge Capstone Program

Current & Transfer Students

Eligibility Criteria

  • Current or transfer students are encouraged to apply if they have a GPA of at least 3.25

Students transferring to Texas State Univeristy must have at least 12 semester hours of course work completed to qualify as transfer students. Please note that the Honors College is willing to give recognized credit for honors courses taken at a previous institution. To discuss the transferring honors credit please set up an appointment with an Honors Advisor.

Note: There is no deadline for Honors College applications. However, to have access to Early Registration, students must be accepted into the College in time to be submitted to the registrar, which usually occurs several weeks before registration.
