Peace Paper Project Reception and Exhibit Opening

In April, Honors hosted a reception for the Peace Paper Project. Refreshments were served with Peace Paper Project guests, Drew Matott and Margaret Mahan, and an exhibit of past paper creations and those made during Peace Paper Week on campus. Students also had the opportunity to hear about the Peace Paper Project art-making workshops held throughout the U.S., the Northern Iberian Peninsula, Turkey, and Spain with veterans, women's groups, universities, and local communities.

Through hand papermaking, writing, book, and printmaking activities, Matott and Mahan have worked with local participants to transform significant articles of clothing into works of art that broadcast personal stories, mutual understanding, and healing.

The event was sponsored by the Common Experience, the School of Art and Design, the Honors College, Multicultural Programs Committee, and the Office of Equity and Access, and the Veterans at Texas State (VATS), this event is free and open to the public.
