What is the Minor in Honors Studies?
As of the fall 2006 semester, students have been able to the minor in honors studies. Students who complete the minor in honors studies will also complete the requirements to graduate in the University Honors Program.
Academic requirements for the minor in honors studies:
• Completion of a minimum of seven honors courses for a total of 21 hours. At least four of the seven honors courses must be advanced.
• A maximum of three honors courses may be counted to satisfy both general education core curriculum requirements and the minor in honors studies.
• Of the four advanced courses required, one must be HON 4390A, the Senior Seminar, and one must be HON 4390B, the Honors Thesis.
• Of the advanced honors courses, a maximum of two may be honors contract courses.
• The honors contract course(s) may not count toward both the major and the Honors Studies minor.
• Evidence of study abroad/international experience or evidence of cross-cultural competency.
• Completion of HON 4390A, the Senior Seminar.
• Completion of HON 4390B, the Honors Thesis course.
• Presentation of the honors thesis in the Honors Thesis Forum.
• Honors director's approval of the completed honors thesis, signed and approved by the thesis supervising professor.
