To graduate in the Honors College, students must complete a minimum of five honors courses, including the Honors Thesis course (HON 4390B). In addition, students must graduate with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25.
Students graduating in the Honors College will be presented a medallion to wear at graduation, and will be listed separately in the commencement booklet, along with the title of their theses and names of supervising professors. The transcripts of these students will be specially designated.
Students have multiple reasons for completing the program–to demonstrate both commitment to tackling a large project independently and a desire to pursue a subject about which they are passionate–both valued by both employers and graduate or professional schools. See the honors thesis.

In addition to our regular honors courses, we also offer departmental honors courses, honors courses by contract, and an honors independent study course. Each of these options enable Texas State students to tailor a curriculum suited to their interests. Please note that students can also Minor in Honors Studies.
