Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater may graduate in the University Honors Program by completing 15 hours of honors courses, including the Honors Thesis course.
At graduation students who have completed the University Honors Program requirements will be recognized in the commencement booklet for their completion of the University Honors Program requirements. Transcripts of these students will be specially designated.
Students have multiple reasons for completing the program. For many, completing a thesis shows they have the commitment to tackle a larger project independently. This is a skill valued by both employers and graduate or professional schools. Some students are simply pursuing the subject that they are passionately interested in learning about. Please see our section on the honors thesis to learn more about the benefits of graduating in the program.
In addition to our regular honors courses, we also offer departmental honors courses, honors courses by contract and independent study. Each of these options helps Texas State students to tailor a curriculum suited to their interests.
