Homecoming Court

Homecoming Royalty Court is an important part of Bobcat Pride and Traditions. 

Each year, our Texas State community nominates and selects exceptional student leaders to serve as members of the Homecoming Royalty Court. These student leaders serve as role models and exemplify the qualities of student involvement, academic scholarship, leadership, and community service. 

Thank you for choosing to provide a recommendation for an applicant for Homecoming Royalty. 

Important Information

Important Dates and Deadlines

  • Royalty Application Registration Opens: Monday, September 11, 2023
  • Royalty Application Registration Closes: Friday, October 6, 2023
  • Royalty Application Review: Monday, October 9, 2023 - Friday, October 13, 2023
  • Royalty Voting: Wednesday, October 18, 2023 - Friday, October 20, 2023

Students may apply for Homecoming King or Queen Royalty, or Gaillardian Court.

  • Candidates can only apply to one category (King/Queen or Gaillardian). 
  • Candidates do not have to be a member of an organization. 
  • King/Queen and Gaillardian candidates must have a letter of recommendation from faculty, staff, or an organization executive member. 

Dukes and Duchess Royalty are selected by each residence hall. 

  • Final candidates are submitted to the Homecoming Committee by the Residence Hall Association President by the application deadline.

Review of applications, Criteria & Letters of Recommendation

All applications will be read by a selection committee comprised of faculty, staff, and graduate students from various parts of campus. 

The selection committee will determine the Homecoming Court based on the following criteria:

  • Involvement in University activities and organizations
  • Academic pursuits, interest, and achievements
  • Demonstration of leadership skills and abilities
  • Service to the community

Thoughtfulness and skill shown in response to questions.

Applications submitted without a letter of recommendation will not be considered. 

The applicant wishes your response to be considered as part of their application, which will not be regarded as complete until your recommendation is received. 

If you have additional information you would like to include, please limit it to one page.

This form should be completed by the faculty, staff, or organization executive member writing the recommendation on behalf of the applicant.

Letter of Recommendation & Prompts

As part of your letter of recommendation and in addition to your personal narrative, copy, paste, and respond to each of these three questions in your letter of recommendation.

  1. What qualities and skills does this applicant possess that sets them apart as a positive representation of a Texas State student?
  2. To your knowledge, how has this applicant exemplified a commitment to the University and community involvement?
  3. How does this applicant represent the ideals of Homecoming Royalty (scholarship, leadership, and service)?
