The History Club is an undergraduate student organization open to students of any major with an intrest in history. Its goal is to provide students with opportunities to socialize with others who have similar interests and to develop their leadership skills through office holding and service. The club sponsors a fall barbeque dinner in Taylor-Murphy Hall at the beginning of the fall semester and a spring field trip to sites of historical interest. History faculty support the club through participation in these and other events, such as movie nights and history skills workshops. Club officers currently are working on an official statement of the club’s purpose, plans for membership recruitment, and potential projects to enhance campus awareness of the past. Anyone interested in actively participating in these activities should contact the club president or faculty advisor or check out the club on Facebook.
