Dr. Gary Hartman specializes in Immigration and Ethnic Community History, and he is also the Director of the Center for Texas Music History at Texas State University. Through the History Department, the Center offers graduate and undergraduate courses on Texas and southwestern music history, along with a variety of other activities. These include publication of the Journal of Texas Music History and collaboration on the Handbook of Texas Music. The Center also works with museums, public schools, universities, and others to develop exhibits, performances, and other educational events related to Texas music history.
