Programs

We offer internships in a variety of areas tailored to fit the needs of our clients. The list below describes some of our current and past projects.

Texas Pollution Discharge and Elimination System
Interns process storm water permits, perform administrative reviews, research past storm water compliance histories, issue acknowledgement certificates and enter permit data into the TCEQ Water/Wastewater Consolidated Database.

Air Permitting
Interns play an important role in protecting air quality by conducting research and processing air quality permits offcampus at TCEQ headquarters in Austin.
Water Quality
Interns assist with development of nutrient criteria for the next revision of the Water Quality Standards for wastewater treatment plant outfalls. Interns work offcampus at the TCEQ headquarters in Austin, TX.
Geographic Information Systems
Projects vary. For example, in one ongoing project interns are building a GIS layer/theme to illustrate Surface Water Quality Monitoring Stations by verifying locational data within the TCEQ Regulatory. Many of our consulting projects require GIS skills as well.

Computer Science
We often have a need for interns with a computer science background. Students assist with the day to day functionality and management of databases, computers, software, printers etc.

Monitoring Operations
Interns verify locational data within the TCEQ Regulatory Activities and Compliance System Database. The purpose of the project is to build a GIS layer/theme to illustrate Surface Water Quality Monitoring Stations (SWQM) in Texas.

Financial Services
Interns gain experience doing accounting tasks in the Financial Administration division of the TCEQ.

Project Administration
Interns assist with the administration of the Partnership Program including recruitment, human resources, payroll, communications, public relations, and office management.

Consulting
We have an expanding consulting service which offers exciting opportunities for interns with specialized skills. Projects vary widely, and may include developing training materials, conducting feasibility studies, analyzing an agency’s equipment or resources, making recommendations for future or better practices, and building and analyzing GIS databases. Consulting projects can come up at any time.
