The Partnership Program coordinates paid student internships at government agencies. We also employ student interns to work on a variety of consulting projects.
In most cases, yes. Visa status is important. Many of our internships require that you be able to work off campus. Please contact us if you have questions about your situation.
Some interns work on the Texas State University–San Marcos campus in the Medina Building and others work off-campus at agency offices (located primarily in Austin). Note to international students: Visa status is very important. Please make sure you are eligible to work off your campus.
Students may work up to a max of 25 hours per week during each long semester that they are enrolled. Interns not enrolled in summer classes may work up to 40 hours per week during the summer (May-August 31).
Internships vary in length from a few weeks to year-round. The program conducts hiring year-round, and positions are filled on an as-needed basis. The majority of positions are filled at the beginning and end of each semester.
