Visitor Policy
In order to entertain
visitors properly and enhance your experience at
the ranch, we have developed the following
guidelines for your visit.
It is important to note that
the Freeman Ranch is a working ranch with all
the time, labor and financial constraints of all
ranches. Similar to other businesses with
important business at hand, we must schedule
time to entertain visitors. Your cooperation is
important to allow us to meet safety and
scheduling concerns - when we know you are
coming, we can make your visit
better!
The Freeman Ranch is a very,
very busy place! Weekly time schedules on the
ranch stretch into the 80-100 hour working week.
The ranch office is open from 8-5 Monday -
Friday, but please be patient, as again, like
other ranches, we do not have the staff to have
someone sitting by the phone.
Due to safety concerns,
visitors MUST check in at the main ranch
headquarters just inside the 2nd cattle guard
each time they visit. Please do not wander
around the headquarters compound looking for
personnel . The front pasture, which includes
the Freeman Nature Trail and Freeman Ranch House
and Conference Center, is open nearly every day
from 7 am to dark and requires no notification,
although we would like you to sign the guest
book each time you visit. The Conference Center
is open only for registered users.
Visitors wishing to visit the
main ranch must schedule time or visit during
open public hours. During hunting season, all
visitors must schedule in advance. All visitors
need be accompanied by or advised by a ranch
employee during their visit.
If requested prior to a
visit, one of the ranch staff can offer a
history of the ranch, offer interpretive
information on ranch activities, or lead a tour
of portions of the ranch. These services are
available only to pre-registered users calling
ahead to schedule these offerings.
Please call the ranch HQ at
512-392-5574 or email J.P. Bach, Manager, at
ranchman@txstate.edu.
Please be patient, since J.P. is the one with
the 90 hour schedule!
