Jan 31, 2001 Minutes

Senators Present:  Reese, Stutzman, Skerpan-Wheeler, McKinney, Brennan, Stone, Blanda, Stimmel, Chair Hays.

Presenters: Gary Springer, Angel Juan

Guest: Mike Moore

The Senators convened in JCK 662  at 4:00 pm for a presentation of the Degree Audit Reporting System (DARS).  Senators were given a time line for the implementation of the system and several examples of what it will be able to do for the advising of students.  Senators asked questions about the cost of the system and the value of this system over the system we are currently using.  Uniformity of results across the campus, state-wide and nationally seemed to be the greatest advantage. Rapid turn over of personnel in the advising centers has apparently slowed the implementation process for DARS considerably.
