01. POLICY STATEMENTS
01.01 We at Texas State are committed to the provision and maintenance of appropriate physical facilities which contribute to a comfortable and conducive learning and work environment. The following procedure contributes to the fulfillment of this policy.
01.02 The
purpose of this UPPS is to establish policies, procedures, and guidelines that
are used to manage the Student Recreation Center (SRC). In addition, this UPPS
defines the user groups involved with the use of this facility and establishes
the fees for each category of user.
01.03 The
specific objectives of the UPPS are:
a. to identify
the annual operational hours of the SRC;
b. to establish
the user eligibility requirements and priorities;
c. to
establish fees for membership;
d. to
establish a rental fee schedule for the use of space by groups; and
e. to identify
the procedure to be followed for making a reservation.
02. OPERATING PROCEDURES
02.01 The
Student Recreation Center (SRC) is available for use during days in which the
University is officially open. Listings and posting of hours of operation are
available for distribution through the Campus Recreation Office located in the
SRC.
02.02 Facility
usage rules and guidelines are posted in the SRC and are available for
distribution from the Information desk.
02.03 User
Groups
Individuals
who are eligible to use the SRC are required to qualify under one (1) of the
following user categories:
a. Student - A
student is anyone who is taking at least one (1) credit hour and has a current
University I.D. Students are able to
sponsor one (1) spouse, domestic partner, or child eighteen (18) years of age
or older residing in the same household. Additional dependents may be
sponsored at a higher rate.
b. Faculty and
Staff - A faculty/staff member is any employee or retired employee who is
benefit eligible and has a current University ID card. Faculty and staff
members are able to sponsor one (1) spouse, domestic partner, or child eighteen (18) years of age or older residing in the
same household. Additional dependents may be sponsored at a higher rate.
c. Texas State
Graduate - Texas State graduates are individuals who have received a degree
from Texas State University-San Marcos. Texas State graduates are able to
sponsor one (1) spouse, domestic partner, or child eighteen
(18) years of age or older residing in the same household. Additional
dependents may be sponsored at a higher rate.
d. Texas State
guest for sponsored programs – a Texas State guest is an individual who is
attending a recognized Texas State sponsored program (i. e., a camp or
workshop, etc.).
e. Continuing
Student - A continuing student is not currently enrolled, but was attending
class the prior semester and is planning to enroll for the coming semester.
Continuing students are able to sponsor one (1) spouse, domestic partner, or
child eighteen (18) years of age or older residing in the same household.
Additional dependents may be sponsored at a higher rate.
f. Other -
the Director of Campus Recreation can extend a membership when the interests of
the University are served.
02.04 Fees and
Rates
a. Attachment I
lists rates/fees that are charged to all user categories. Individuals are
required to pay the appropriate fees in order to purchase a membership card.
Entrance into the SRC is restricted to those individuals who have validated
membership cards (students and faculty/staff will use their university I.D.
cards). All memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.
b. Attachment II
lists rates/fees that are charged to groups using the SRC. In addition to these
fees/rates, additional costs may be assumed by groups depending upon the
function or purpose of the reservation.
c. Fees and
rates are reviewed annually by the Department of Campus Recreation and the
Campus Recreation Advisory Council. The appropriate fee schedule is described
in the annual budget of Campus Recreation.
02.05 Reservation
Procedures
a. A group
wishing to use space in the SRC must complete a reservation request form (which
can be picked up at the Campus Recreation Office or available online at http://www.campusrecreation.txstate.edu/Informal/inf_members.html)
and submit this form to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation (or his/her
designee) for approval.
b. All
reservations must be submitted at least ten (10) class days prior to the
scheduled event.
c. In most
cases, reservations will be considered only up to (1) one year in advance (next
fiscal year). Reservation requests should be submitted by January 15th for the
next fiscal year.
d. Reservations
received after the January 15th deadline are evaluated and confirmed upon space
availability.
e. The
Associate Director of Campus Recreation will assess the fees associated with
the proper user groups. The fees are:
1) Rental fees
2) Damage fees
3) Liability
insurance requirements
4) Security
requirements (if any)
5) Required staffing fees
