Developing Talent Across the Life Course

Talent Education at Texas State explores talent development and advanced learning across the life course. Graduate students in Talent Education investigate learning, "giftedness," the development of expert performance, and creativity across cultural contexts and in formal and informal environments. Through participation in courses with solid theoretical and research foundations, our students develop conceptual principles and practical skills that may be applied when teaching, mentoring, or coaching learners in a variety of settings. The Talent Education program is committed to re-imagining education, including access to meaningful and appropriate education, for all students.

Join Us in Re-Imagining Education

The Talent Education program welcomes both those students who wish to pursue a Master's degree in Elementary or Secondary Education with a specialization in Gifted and Talented Education and those students who wish to take a single course as an elective or as non-degree-seeking professional development. Our graduates have used the knowledge that they developed through the program to teach students in general education K-12 classrooms, coordinate gifted and talented programs, serve as school administrators, mentor district teachers, teach in higher education, and provide professional development in gifted and talented education in international schools.
