Greetings from the Ikeda Center for Peace, Learning, and Dialogue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I am writing to share some details about a fellowship program in humanistic education that our Center established in 2007. We thought that this fellowship might be of interest to your doctoral students.
As background, the Ikeda Center Education Fellows Program provides $10,000 per year for two years to support dissertation research on Soka (literally "to create value") education, an emerging field of study in humanistic education. The dissertation topic can be comparative—examining contrasts and similarities with other philosophies and practices of humanistic education—or can focus solely on Soka education.
For your information, I have included details about the program and the Center below. Additional information can also be found on our website here: http://ikedacenter.org/edfellows.htm <http://pull.msg-edu.com/p/1493-4B90/67653582/html001-ikedacenter.org-edfellows.htm.html>
You can also find a bibliographic guide to English-language sources on Soka education here: http://ikedacenter.org/edfellows_bibliography_essay.htm <http://pull.msg-edu.com/p/1493-636E/67549587/html002-ikedacenter.org.html>
We hope our fellowship program relates to your own interests and to the interests of your students and colleagues. We would be most appreciative if you would consider sharing this information with your students. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Also, please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the program or the Center.
Thank you very much.
Sincere regards,
Kevin Maher
