Application to the Ph.D. in Education Program

The following items are to be submitted to the Graduate College:

1. Complete and submit an official Graduate College Application for Admission for the Doctoral Program in Education.
2. Submit a non-refundable application fee of $40.00 (U.S. currency) for all students.
3. Show evidence of a completed master's degree from an accredited university in an area related to proposed studies, with a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale for courses applied to the master's degree.
4. Submit official transcripts:
   
   1. If you are a Texas State University-San Marcos degree recipient or are currently enrolled, you need to request transcripts from any colleges NOT listed on your Texas State transcript. The Graduate College will provide the Texas State transcripts.
   2. If you are not a Texas State University-San Marcos degree recipient or are not currently enrolled, one official transcript from each senior level post secondary institution attended is required. These transcripts must be mailed directly from the university or college attended or submitted in a sealed university envelope with the university's registrar's signature on the back of the envelope.
      

The following items are to be submitted directly to the College of Education:

1. Complete the College of Education Ph.D. in Education Application form. PDF format Word format
2. Submit an essay of approximately 500 words that describes your background and professional goals including your rationale for pursing a doctoral degree.
   
3. Submit a current resume.
   
4. Submit three reference forms.
