Lauren E. Neal is a graduate student in American History at Texas State University and holds a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in Film and Media Studies. In New York, she worked as a sales, marketing, and distribution executive for independent films, such as Banksy’s Exit Through the Gift Shop, Lee Daniels’s Precious, and Todd Solondz’s Life During Wartime. Neal also consults for film festivals such as South by Southwest, and she received a Literary Fellowship for the Summer Literary Seminar in Lithuania this year. Her historical studies focus on twentieth-century rural-to-urban migration and class in the South and Southwest.
