Sergio M. Martínez completed his PhD in 2005. He is currently Associate professor at Texas State University-San Marcos, where he joined the faculty of the Department of Modern Languages in 2005. Since then he had served as First-Year Spanish Coordinator, Spanish Undergraduate Adviser, and has served as the Academic Program Director for several study abroad programs in Spain, Mexico, and Costa Rica. He has published several articles on academic journals such as: The Bilingual Review, Revista de Literatura Mexicana Contemporánea, Interventions: International Journal of Postcolonial Studies, Estudios Sociales, Hipertexto, CIMEXUS (Revista de Investigaciones México-Estados Unidos), and Confluencia. Currently he is the co-Executive Editor of the on-line journal Letras Hispanas and Executive Director of SCOLAS (Southwest Council of Latin American Studies). He has organized three international conferences on Latin American Studies in San Juan, Puerto Rico; Miami, Florida; and Antigua, Guatemala. Currently he is organizing the 2014 SCOLAS conference in San Diego, California.
