The HTML Artwork Quotations: BLOCKQUOTE and Q


There are two elements designed for quotations. BLOCKQUOTE should be used for long quotes, while Q is used for short, inline quotes.

Tomatoes are legally classified as a vegetable in the United States:

Botanically speaking, tomatoes are the fruit of a vine, just as are cucumbers, squashes, beans and peas. But in the common language of the people,...all these are vegetables which are grown in kitchen gardens and...are, like potatoes, carrots,...usually served at dinner in, with or after the soup, fish or meats which constitute the principal part of the repast and not, like fruits generally, as dessert.

In the following sentence, "small, egg-shaped red beauties" is in a Q element. Does your browser support Q, or does it render the phrase the same way as the rest of the sentence?

Shepard’s Garden Seeds describes the Principe Borghese tomato as “small, egg-shaped red beauties.”
