TEXAS CPM GRADUATION HELD ON JUNE 2, 2008 AT THE TEXAS STATE CAPITOLGraduation Speech Delivered by |
| On June 2, 2008, the Texas CPM Program, which is offered by Texas State University’s William P. Hobby Center for Public Service, held its bi-annual CPM Graduation at the Texas State Capitol. Delivering the graduation speech was Professor Terrell Blodgett, Mike Hogg Professor Emeritus of Urban Management of LBJ’s School Of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. ![]() Mr. Larry Gonzales, Assistant Vice Chancellor, delivered the official welcome on behalf ot the Texas State University System. One of the highlights of the graduation ceremony was the induction of 52 CPM graduates into the Texas Society of Certified Public Managers. The June 08 CPM Graduation was very special, it featured the graduation of 25 CPM participants from the Texas Tech CPM Program which was conducted in Abilene and San Angelo, Texas. The Director of the Texas Tech CPM Program is Professor Tom Longoria. The graduation ceremony also featured the graduation of 2 members of the Texas City Management Association that were the recipients of the Barney Knight CPM Scholarships. The scholarship recipients were Shawn Oubre, City Manager of the City of Orange Texas and Crista Bromley, Director of Economic Development and the Airport Manager of the City of Burnet Texas. In addition to the induction of the CPM students, Professor Blodgett, the Graduation Speaker was presented with a plaque for delivering the CPM Graduation Speech.. After the graduation ceremony was concluded, a reception for the CPM graduates and their guests was held in the Capitol Grill at the Texas Capitol. In addition to the 25 graduates of the Texas Tech CPM Program, the June 08 graduates of the Texas CPM Program included 14 who graduated under the direction of Texas State University William P. Hobby Center for Public Service, 8 from the City of Houston CPM Program offered by Sam Houston State University, 7 from the CPM Program offered by the University of Texas at Arlington.
