OSHA Regulatory & Compliance Courses

The Office of Continuing Education at Texas State University-San Marcos in partnership with the Texas Safety Institute will soon offer courses in Environmental Safety, First Aid, OSHA Safety, and Regulatory & Compliance training. The Texas Safety Institute is a state wide health, safety, and environemental facilitator, serving Texas. Their goal is to help Texas employers and employees create and maintain a safe and healthy workplace. The Institute's primary function is to provide quality training, consulting, workplace regulatory and compliance programs.

Note: All courses are available in Spanish and can be brought to your work site.
AMA: Healthcare Provider (BLS) Course This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the ability to recognize several lifesaving emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking. This course is intended for physicians, nurses, paramedics, EMT's respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nuring students in training, aides, and medical or nursing assistants.

AHA: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) This comprehensive course provides the participant with knowledge, skills and capabilities to respond to the needs of a patient in a life-threatening crisis. In addition, a review of current technology and equipment is presented to give to each attendee the ability to use the various devices found in the patient care area.

Bloodborne Pathogens & Exposure Control Plan Course Using a step by step approach, this one-day workshop will develop a Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Cotnrol Plan. The target audience is the program administrator, manager or other personnel designated with the responsibility of developing a Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.

HAZWOPER:
8-Hour Refresher Course
This one day course fulfills the refresher requirement for hazardous waste workers engaged in remedial activities at hazardous waste sites described under OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.120. It meets the refresher requirement for both the 24 and 40-hour health and safety training courses.

Medic First Aid Course
(2-day course)
Once you have successfully completed a Medic First Aid Trainer class, you will be able to conduct basic student-level training classes for all of the essentiual Medic First Aid Training Programs. (To learn more about Medic First Aid go to www.mediconeacademy.com.) In addition, as a trainer, you will also be able to conduct Medic First Aid instructor classes.

When you take this course you will receive instructor guides and video programs (choice of VHS or DVD) for the following Medic First Aid Training Programs:
--Basic (First Aid/CPR/AED)
--Infant/Child Supplement
--Bloodborne Pathogens
--Emergency Oxygen Supplement

OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Course (2-day course) This official OSHA 10-hour construction course introduces standards, procedures and policies for construction workers. Upon successful completion students receive an official OSHA 10-hour card.
