The goal of this course is to provide information on residential roof systems and associated components to aid in evaluating the condition of roofs commonly encountered during a home inspection.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Identify and describe common residential roof designs and roof coverings
2. Inspect roof systems in accordance with home inspection industry standards
3. Understand the common concerns and issues related to roof systems
4. Determine the physical condition of roof systems
5. Identify the presence of common roof system deficiencies
6. Assess the significance of observed roof system defects
7. Utilize common reporting approaches to inform a homebuyer of inspection findings
