The Office of Community Relations works closely with the Student Volunteer Connection to match students, staff and faculty with community agencies and organizations.

There are many agencies, schools and organziations that need volunteers that are committed throughout a semester, not just for a one-time event.

City of San Marcos

• Serving on Boards and Commission 
  
  • The San Marcos City Council appoints citizens to serve on advisory boards and commissions.  Their recommendations to the City Council contribute to many of the decisions and policies of the City of San Marcos.
• Neighborhood Clean-Ups
  • They City of San Marcos' Enviromental Health Department and the San Marcos Counil of Neighborhood Associations organizes neighborhood clean up that allows residents to dispose of large trash items.  Volunteers are needed to assist at dumpster site and help elderly and disable residents bring trash to the dumster site.  Contact the Environmental Health Department at 393-8440 for more information.
• San Marcos Animal Shelter
  • The San Marcos Animal Shelter relies on volunteers to help out with many of the programs that the shelter has, as well as helping with everyday duties at the shelter.
