Black History Month

The month of February kicks off the celebration of Black History Month at Texas State University-San Marcos.
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs is hosting a series of events to help celebrate and inform students and the community about the importance of Black History Month.
One of the events that will be taking place throughout the month of February is the Eyes on the Prize Series that will feature a variety of documentaries, art exhibits and guest speakers including Bishop John J. McCarthy and Mr. Nelson Linder, the President of the Austin Chapter of the NAACP.
The public is invited to attend the February 26th  ‘Eyes on the Prize Series’ Film Series in Alkek Teaching Theatre at 7:00 pm entitled “Power! (1966-68).”  The call for Black Power takes various forms across communities in black America.
Also showing; “The Promise Land (1967-68).”  Martin Luther King, Jr. stakes out new ground for himself and the rapidly fragmenting civil rights movement.
