General Parking and Seating Information

For security purposes, all commencement attendees are asked to limit the handbags, camera bags and tote bags they bring with them to only those that are absolutely necessary. All articles brought into the facility will be subject to search, and this may delay attendees from entering the coliseum.

Parking

Strahan Coliseum is located at the corner of Aquarena Springs and Charles Austin drives. Parking is available at the Strahan Coliseum lot east of Charles Austin Drive and the Bobcat Stadium parking lot. Texas State shuttle buses are available and accessible at both lots and will drop off at the Texas State marquee sign in front of Strahan Coliseum.

For the safety and convenience of our guests, the University Police Department (UPD) coordinates and supervises parking and traffic flow. Guests may encounter lane closures and/or re-directed traffic as the UPD deems necessary.

Seating

Tickets are not required for commencement, so guest seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Out of consideration for others, please reserve seats only for people who have already arrived for the ceremony. Representatives from the UPD will be on hand to enforce this seating policy.

Please refer to the map of Strahan Coliseum for a general idea of the candidate seating location of a particular academic college during each ceremony. Texas State University reserves the right to alter the candidate seating arrangement as needed prior to the start of the ceremony.

Disabled Parking and Seating Information

Parking

The guarded lot off of Charles Austin Drive (east of Strahan Coliseum; west of Riverside Apartments) is available for disabled parking. There is also disabled parking in the stadium lots to the east (across Charles Austin Drive). Please click here for a more detailed map of this area.

Signs are posted at these lots to indicate available disabled parking. For the safety and convenience of our guests, the UPD coordinates and supervises parking and traffic flow. Guests may encounter lane closures and/or redirected traffic as the UPD deems such traffic controls are necessary.

Seating

Strahan Coliseum has disabled seating areas in sections C, F, H and K. The map of Strahan Coliseum shows these sections. Seats for the family and friends of students sitting in those areas are available adjacent to those sections.

Attendees are advised to arrive one hour prior to the start of the ceremony because of the large number of people attending commencement. Please contact Texas State's Office of Disability Services for more information.
