This checklist is for advising purposes for BGS students only.


Consult your undergraduate catalog or official degree audit for degree requirements.

  • Twelve advanced hours in the minor coursework are required for the BGS.
  • A 2.25 cumulative GPA must be maintained in all minor courses.
  • No grade lower than a “C” will be accepted as credit for BGS minors.
  • Course rotation indications are intended to be used for planning purposes and do not guarantee course availability. "F" indicates "fall," "S" indicates "spring," and "Su" indicates "summer" availability.

  • _____ PA 3330 (WI) - Public Personnel and Human Resource Administration (F, S) (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 3310 (WI) - Public Finance Administration (F, S, SU) (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 3350 – Public Policy Process (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)

Advanced Electives (select 3 courses from the following):

  • _____ PA 3311 - Analytical Techniques (F, S) (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 3314 (WI) - State and Local Government (F, S) (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 3316 (WI) – Metropolitan Politics (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 3340 (WI) - Administrative Law (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 3351 – Urban Policy and Regional Policy (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PS 4323 (WI) – Latina/o Politics (Corequisite: PS 3300 or PS 3301.)
  • _____ PA 4340 (WI) – Issues in Law and Public Policy (F) (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 4352 (WI) – Comparative Public Administration (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 4362 (WI) – Government, Nonprofit and American Business (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)
  • _____ PA 4370 (WI) – Ethics in American Government (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)

  • _____ PA 4389 (WI) - Internship in Public Administration (Encouraged for BGS majors.) (Upon Request, BGS students will receive co-requisite override.)



Note: Requests for overrides should be submitted to Dr. Sherri Mora, sm43@txstate.edu, and must include Texas State ID#, course information (prefix, number, and section), and the term the override is being requested for.
