My laboratory examines the ways that bacterial enzymes can be used to remove sulfur from petroleum to make cleaner burning fuels. Students learn techniques in many biophysical and molecular biology techniques including bacterial cell growth, protein purification, enzyme kinetics, site-directed mutagenesis, and direct evolution.
