Personal Bio

Laurie joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in 1999. She is responsible for managing the departmental office and assisting students and faculty in all matters relating to teaching, research and advising. Laurie graduated from Webber International University where she was editor of her school newspaper. Laurie has worn several career hats including Property Manager, Media Buyer for a political consultant and Administrative Assistant. Laurie lived in New Orleans for twenty-four years before moving to San Marcos with her husband, photographer Ben Ellis. She has two sons, two grandsons and one granddaughter. She is an award-winning author of six novels and received the Employee of the Month award for October 2007.
